Fourth- and fifth-graders at Los Alamitos Elementary School went a little bit country for their annual winter musical, held Jan. 25 at Crossroads Bible Church. More than 200 students took the stage to sing classic country songs like Clementine and show tunes from Oklahoma! Willie Nelson was well represented in the program, which showcased songs such as On the Road Again and Crazy. Under the direction of Bill Smethers, students soloed on some numbers and moved to the music with choreography by teacher's aide Amy Noble. Principal Lisa Gonzales said the show was moved off-campus this year to accommodate the large "cast," as well as the large audience who came to hear the young singers.
