Free Examination: Dr. Manuel Pantiga, a New Almaden resident who runs a free health clinic for those who can't afford health care, checks out 5-year-old Sharley Rubio. Pantiga, who has been retired for close to a decade, is to receive the California Community Service Crystal Award from Blue Cross of California for his work with RotaCare Bay Area's San Jose free clinic on Edwards Street and at another free clinic in the Washington District of San Jose.
