Police release sketch of man suspected in garage shooting
San Jose police are searching for a suspect in what may have been a random shooting that occurred last month in a residential area of the city, Sgt. Steve Dixon said March 3.

The shooting occurred on Feb. 5 around 9:40 p.m. at a home in the 5300 block of Garwood Drive.

An investigation revealed that the female victim was talking with a friend in the home's garage when the suspect approached on foot and stopped in the driveway.

He then reportedly fired multiple shots into the open garage before fleeing.

Dixon said the 29-year-old victim suffered several gunshot wounds and that her friend was not seriously injured.

The victim was taken to Santa Clara Valley Medical Center, where she has since recovered from her injuries.

Investigators have only been able to determine that the crime was not gang related. They have not established a motive in the case.

Dixon said it remains unclear whether the victim was the intended target of the shooting since she does not live at the address.

Witnesses reported seeing a small, dark-colored two-door sedan similar to a Dodge Neon, driving slowly by the house just before the shooting.

Another witness saw a man running away from the scene, which is located near Blossom Hill Road at Coniston Way.

The suspect is described as a man of an unknown race in his 20s, standing between 5 feet 6 inches and 5 feet 9 inches tall, with a thin build, light complexion and short, dark hair.

Dixon said he was wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt and dark pants.

Anyone with information pertaining to the case is urged to contact the department's assaults unit at 408.277.4161.
