Starting Young: Sylvia Ward gets in her training for an upcoming marathon by pushing her baby, Paige, in a jogger through Glenview Park in Almaden. Ward was 4 1/2 months into the training for a marathon in 2003 when she found out she was pregnant with Paige, and with the permission of her doctor, she ran the marathon 10 weeks later.

Some 1,350 students in the San Jose Unified School District will have to pay up to $300 each to take the bus to school next year.
