The Rockies win the pennant, the Rockies win the pennant!
The Rockies of the junior division of the Almaden Little League ended the season with a 15-3 record this year, which was more than enough for a first-place finish. They finished two full games ahead of the Orioles, having taken three of three games from the O's during the season.
The Rockies ended the season on a high note, winning four of their last five games. They bested the Angels 14-6 on May 14 and then went on to defeat the Mariners 15-5. The Reds proved a challenging opponent on May 19, but the Rockies managed to come away with a 4-2 win. The champs dropped a game to the Tigers 7-5 on May 21, but finished strong against the Padres, taking a 7-3 win.
The Orioles finished the season with a solid 13-5 record. The only two losses that weren't to the league champion Rockies came in the last five games of the season when the O's lost to the Padres 8-7 on May 14 and to the Tigers 10-6 on May 23. But they made up for their two losses with a win against the Mariners 6-4 to end the season. They also defeated the Reds 5-3 on May 15 and bested the Angels 7-2 on May 21.
The Reds took third place, four games behind the Rockies, with a record of 11-7. The Reds had a tough end to their season, facing both the Rockies and the Orioles in the last five games of the season and losing to both of them. But they also had some tough luck when they lost to the last place Angels 6-0 on May 22. They were able to put together wins against the Tigers, 7-4 on May 17, and the Mariners, 18-6 on May 25, to close out the season on a strong note.
It seemed the Orioles were a tough team to beat in any division of the Almaden Little League. The O's won the major south division title with a 17-3 record. The O's won three of their last five games of the season, beating the north major Rockies 11-0 on April 30, losing to the north major Devil Rays 5-4 on May 8, defeating the Red Sox of the north majors 4-3 on May 14, losing to the last-place south major Rangers 8-4 and finishing it off with a 14-0 win against the south major A's. The O's also won their first playoff game against the north major Padres 3-0 and will face the winner of the A's-Yankees game on June 4.
The Yankees finished their season just behind the O's in the south major division with a record of 14-6. The Yanks dropped only one of their last five regular season games to the White Sox of the north major division 10-9 on May 1. They finished the season strong after that, defeating the Devil Rays 5-4 on May 7, the north major Brewers 9-0 on May 13, the Rangers 8-5 on May 14 and the south major Padres 11-1 on May 21. The Yankees were to face the A's on June 1 in the first round of the playoffs to see who will face the Orioles on June 4.
The Devil Rays finished their season with a championship in the north major division with a 15-5 record. The Devil Rays ended their season with some powerful momentum, winning their last five games. They bested the White Sox 3-2 on May 15, the Red Sox 5-4 on May 16, the White Sox again 7-6 on May 19, the Padres of the south major division 5-4 on May 22 and finally took a tough one from the south major Rangers 14-12. The Devil Rays were to face the White Sox in their first playoff game on May 31. The winner of that game will go on to play the winner of the Indians-Red Sox game on June 4.
The Indians and Red Sox tied for second place in the north major division with 13-7 records and each taking a game form the other. The two teams will meet in the first round of the playoffs on June 2 to break the tie once and for all. The winner will go on to face the Devil Rays on June 4.
