The Golf Course at Boulder Ridge, which overlooks the Graystone area of Almaden Valley, hired Natural Solutions of Santa Cruz to take care of the weed problem on its property surrounding the links there. Natural Solutions moved in a herd of 300 goats--Boers, Spanish, Angora and Nubian--which will live up to their reputation as four-legged bio-powered weed eaters. Allison Carey, who started Natural Solutions, says that goats, unlike gas-powered lawnmowers or weed-whackers that spit out pollution-causing exhaust, leave only biodegradable waste and, if used over a couple of years, will eliminate invasive species and allow native grasses to grow in their place.
