Campbell church holds its annual rummage sale

The Congregational Church of Campbell is having its annual rummage sale on April 28, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 400 W. Campbell Ave. Donated and reusable items such as clothes, toys, dishes, books, jewelry and more will be available for sale. The rummage sale has been held each year at the church for more than 30 years. Proceeds from the sale help support the mission funds, which the church contributes to organizations, including InnVision, Habitat for Humanity and earthquake relief organizations. For more information, call 408.378.4418.

Middle schools to play for the public

The first annual Campbell Union School District Music Festival is planned for 7 p.m. on April 25, at Campbell Middle School, 295 Cherry Lane.

About 150 students from Rolling Hills, Monroe and Campbell middle schools will present the premiere performance, thanks to three music teachers who believed that bringing the students together for a joint performance would enrich students.

Admission is free and refreshments will be sold, with proceeds used for the schools' music programs.

    Science fair needs judges, volunteers

The Intel 2001 International Science and Engineering Fair, set for May 6-11 in San Jose, is looking for thousands of volunteers and judges to help with the fair. Needed are 1,300 judges to help evaluate projects in 14 different subject category areas, as well as 1,000 volunteers to staff a variety of positions throughout the fair. Preferred qualifications for the judges are a doctorate in philosophy or doctor of medicine, or, at minimum, a college degree with at least six years professional experience. High school teachers and colleagues who are officials of a local science fair are not eligible. There is an especially strong need for judges in all life science categories and in the environmental and Earth/space categories. Volunteers are not required to have any science or engineering experience. Judges will be needed on May 8 and 9, and volunteers are needed to assist on any or all days between May 6 and 11, as well as prefair starting May 3. For more information, call Liz Einbinder at 415.921.8957, or visit www.intelisef2001.org.
