Garden Style joins several businesses in downtown

    By Michelle C. Crowe

New plants, accessories and tools for the garden can be seen everywhere in Campbell, from Home Depot to SummerWinds to Mervyn's, and now the newest business to join downtown's plant, garden and gift specialists is Garden Style.

Located at 32 E. Campbell Ave., near Winchester Boulevard, at the former site of furniture retailer Ghiasi, Garden Style is a garden boutique. It differentiates itself from other downtown plant and floral specialists by offering three specialized product lines.

In addition to a handpicked selection of large and small gifts of plants, it features fine antique garden accessories along with garden design services and installation services for those oh- so- picturesque- but- how- do- I- get- it- out- of- the- car- and- into- the- yard- without- breaking- it accessories.

The shop is co-owned by Michelle Boyette and Kent Gordon England. A Los Gatos native, Boyette previously built Tenth Planet from two to 40 people before it was sold, and for the past four years, she has developed the retail component of Artifact Design and Salvage in San Jose.

A registered landscape architect and licensed landscape contractor, England maintains a separate design office neighboring Garden Style at 38 E. Campbell Ave.

Store hours are Wednesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The two plan an official grand opening for June, followed by educational classes in plant care.

For those who need more than gardening to achieve their fitness goals for summer, the local Weight Watchers branch, at 156 San Tomas Aquino Road, near Campbell Avenue, is offering free registration through May 18.

For après gardening relaxation, the Plaza 4 Theatres are in the process of renovating the movie house's seating, as part of the move to becoming CineLux Theatres (previously Movie Bargain Theatres). Want to make movie selections even easier? Just sign up for the weekly e-mail bulletin at http:www.cineluxtheatres.com.

The local Big!Lots bargain closeout chain offers a similar service--by signing up for the weekly e-mail reminder, thrifty bargain hunters see the newest circular in Tuesday morning's inbox instead of in Tuesday afternoon's mailbox. Sign up at http://www.biglots.com.
