Jim Beall wants fair date moved
Santa Clara County Supervisor Jim Beall has proposed holding the Santa Clara County Fair at its original time in August. In a memo to the board of supervisors, Beall said, "I have concerns regarding the attendance at the annual Santa Clara County Fair. Several county residents who would like to see future annual fair dates returned to August have approached me. It is my hope that attendance would be improved if the fair were reverted back to summer."
The reason for lower attendance in May, Beall said, is that children are in school and too busy to attend.
"A county fair is a summertime activity. Kids are out of school ... Moving the fair back to August just seems like the right thing to do."
