    Junior Giants need coaches

The Junior Giants, youth baseball leagues supported by the San Francisco Giants Community Fund, need coaches for the upcoming summer season.

Coaches receive professional training by a team of San Francisco Giants coaches, and each coach will attend a clinic at Pac Bell Park and receives tickets to Giants games.

Junior Giants coaches teach positive character skills to the children before the start of each game or practice session. Through baseball, at-risk children learn to interact as a part of a team, and also learn to effectively deal with events that affect their lives and community.

Opening day is June 25. For more information, call 1.877.JRGIANT.

    All-Comer meets

Los Gatos will host the 22nd annual series of summer All-Comer Track and Field meets on the high school track.

Meets are slated for Thursday evenings (June 28, July 5, 12, 19 and 26, and Aug. 2, 9 and 16). Pole vault competition begins at 5 p.m. with the rest of the field events getting under way at 5:30 p.m. Track events begin at 6 p.m.

Competition will be in the following divisions: open men and women, high school boys and girls, masters men and women, and age group for kids in most events.

The entry fee is $3 for unlimited events, and the cost is $2 for spectators. Proceeds go towards the upkeep and resurfacing cost of the Los Gatos track.

    Youth football

The Campbell-Saratoga Wolverines will hold signups for youth football players and cheerleaders ages 8-14 on June 23, 10 a.m.-1 p.m., at the Campbell Community Center. Coaches also needed. For more information, call 408.265.4599.

    Tennis lessons

The Campbell Recreation Department will hold group lessons for players ages 9 through adult at John D. Morgan Park in Campbell. The cost is $9 per hour-lesson. For more information, call 408.866.2105.

    All-star football

Football's finest high school seniors will be back on the field this summer when the 27th annual Silicon Valley Youth Classic Charlie Wedemeyer High School All-Star Football Game returns to the Santa Clara Valley on July 25, 7:30 p.m., at the Independence High School.
