EMQ receives awards for its programs and services

Eastfield Ming Quong Children and Family Services has received two national awards of excellence from the National Council for Community Behavioral Healthcare in recognition of its innovation and achievement in this field.

EMQ is a Campbell-based nonprofit community agency that each year treats thousands of Santa Clara County children who have serious emotional disturbances and works with their families as well. The goal is to help these individuals regain emotional and mental health through a broad range of community-based and residential treatment programs, including 24-hour mobile crisis intervention, intake assessments, level of care evaluations, wraparound care, school-based in-home and intensive outpatient services, residential and day treatment, therapeutic foster care, child sexual abuse treatment and chemical dependency prevention and education.

This year, EMQ was the only organization of its kind in the United States to earn two NCCBH awards this year. Award-winners were selected by a panel of judges comprises of distinguished experts in the field of community behavioral health.

One of EMQ's honors was for its wraparound service called Program UPLIFT (Uniting Partners to Link and Invest in Families Today), which creates working alternatives to the traditional approach of removing troubled children from their homes and placing them in institutional treatment programs. EMQ strives to keep children and families together whenever possible. The second honor recognized EMQ for its organizational transformation that resulted in increased productivity, lower staff turnover and better outcomes for the children and families it treats.

Proceeds from the Butter Paddle in Saratoga support EMQ.
