Police Blotter
Gone Gun--July 9. A man removed two guns from a safe on Smith Avenue to clean them. After he left them in a closet for about a week, he returned to retrieve them and discovered one of the guns, a Colt .45-caliber semi-automatic pistol, was missing.
Attempted Theft--July 9, 8 a.m. An unknown suspect broke into a Union Avenue resident's Toyota Tacoma and attempted to steal the stereo. Unable to remove the stereo from the dashboard, the suspect instead made off with cigarettes and some change.
Beyond Surrender--July 9, 10:30 p.m. A 36-year-old male transient was found banging on the Campbell Police Department's back door because he wanted to turn himself in. The man was wanted for a felony warrant and being under the influence of a controlled substance, so police booked him into jail.
Small Change--July 9. A Ravenscourt Avenue resident reported that an unknown suspect had broken into the coin boxes on the washer and dryer at an apartment complex.
Forced Entry--July 10, 1:04 a.m. A 20-year-old Santa Clara man was arrested after he kicked in the door to his ex-girlfriend's home on Hollis Avenue, grabbed her and destroyed her cell phone.
Property Retrieval--July 10, 8 a.m. A 32-year-old Whitwood Lane resident reported that her ex-boyfriend forced open the front door of her home, retrieved some property and then left. An emergency protective services order against the man had expired at 5 p.m. on July 9.
Pedestrian Study--July 11, 8 a.m. The Campbell Police Department's traffic unit conducted a pedestrian traffic study at the corner of Hamilton Avenue and Phoenix Drive and issued 22 citations to drivers for not yielding to pedestrians in the crosswalks.
Rooftop Writer--July 11, 1 a.m. An unknown suspect sprayed graffiti on the roof of a restaurant on Camden Avenue.
Missing Cigarettes--July 15, 4:35 a.m. Two suspects broke the front window of a shop on Hacienda Avenue and stole approximately 380 cartons of cigarettes. The first suspect is believed to be Hispanic or white; 6 feet 4 inches tall with short brown hair; 210 pounds; and wearing a white T-shirt, black leather vest and black pants. The second suspect is believed to be Hispanic or white, 6 feet 2 inches tall, 200 pounds and wearing a long sleeved shirt.
