    Police Blotter

    Car Caper--July 16. A San Jose man reported that his '88 Mazda MX6 was stolen by a 26-year-old Capitola woman and that his sister had seen the car on Lark Avenue on the evening of July 15. The man loaned the suspect his car on June 27, intending for her to return it by the end of the day.

    Marker Mischief--July 16, 2:15 p.m. Police cited a 12-year-old boy for marking a hand dryer in a public bathroom of a restaurant on S. Winchester Avenue after employees caught him. Police found a black marker in the suspect's pocket.

    Botched Burglary--July 16, 10:05 p.m. A 17-year-old male was booked into juvenile hall after he broke into a home on Smith Avenue and held a 49-year-old male resident at gunpoint. The victim had returned home to find his side garage door open and noticed that items in his home had been disturbed. Believing the burglar had vacated his home, the victim called police, after which the suspect emerged from a bedroom with his gun drawn. Police arrived about one minute later and some of the victim's property was found in the suspect's pockets. The suspect claimed he'd stopped at the victim's home to use the bathroom, even though he and the victim were not acquainted and told police he lives down the street from the victim.

    Unpaid debt--July 16, 10:40 p.m. A 25-year-old San Jose woman assaulted a W. Rincon Drive resident and stole a necklace after the victim told the woman she would be unable to pay a monetary debt. The case was sent to the district attorney.

    Neighborhood Disturbance--July 16, 10:49 p.m. An 18-year-old Budd Avenue resident was taken to the hospital after neighbors reported that he was screaming and acting violently in the courtyard of their apartment complex while wearing almost no clothing.

    Phonetic Fun--July 17 12:01 a.m. An unknown suspect spelled out "WEST COST" in paint on the roadway on Shelley Avenue.

    Property Damage--July 17. An unknown suspect crashed a car into a building on W. Campbell Avenue, causing major damage.

    Jealous Ex--July 17, 4:30. A Los Gatos man called his wife and threatened to take their children and harm her current boyfriend. The woman lives on W. Rincon Drive and is separated from her husband.
