Campbell has sold out to redevelopment

I agree with Henry and Barbara Citti's comments, which appeared in your July 11 opinion page. Downtown Campbell, with its mix of small businesses and homes, used to be quaint. I always wondered why it didn't hold street and antique fairs there. I guess it didn't fit in with the city's image.

It now appears that Campbell is prostituting itself. What with? The Fry's Electronics, Staples and Home Depot chaos. It looks like no planning took place when it sold out to them.

Then the great metropolis of Campbell had to have a Starbucks (the Kmart of coffee shops), putting the squeeze on the independent coffee shops.

I think Campbell should go back to being quaint and not try to compete with San Jose.

I guess the city's next effort would be to tear down the community center and build a sports arena. Good God!
