    Talk of the Town

    By Jacqi Bowe

    Q. Is it getting harder to find a parking place in Campbell? Follow Up: Has it ever kept you from going somewhere or doing something?

    (asked in downtown Campbell)

In the older historical section it's just bad. There's a lot of new housing and there's just not a lot of room. We're becoming a little version of Palo Alto. Avoidance? I used to get nails done there but I said, 'This is stupid!' and I actually switched salons. There was never parking around. Maybe they could build a parking structure. If they just blocked it off and made it a parking area.

Every body wants to live here. It's hard for the small businesses to stay in business if somebody doesn't want to go down there. Kept you away? I haven't been down there for any events just for that reason. It's just not enjoyable. You wander around forever. For about an hour.

There aren't many places where you can park. You always end up going around in circles trying to find a spot. It's definitely just hard to find a place to park. Kept from Campbell? I don't avoid Campbell because it's a hassle. When I go to downtown it's always for something specific. I've never been deterred because of the parking.

I have to start off ten minutes earlier than usually just to find parking. Then you have to park really far away. Walking to your car late at night can get kind of creepy. Unrequited visits? If I go to the farmers' market I bum a ride off of someone else or have someone drop me off. I know there's no way I'll ever find parking around here.
