Free and reduced meals for students

Applications for free and reduced price school meals are available to households of all enrolled students in the Campbell Union School District (CUSD). The regular lunch price at all seven district schools is $2, and the reduced price is 40 cents. District officials say they plan to send home applications and letters with all students, informing parents and guardians of the availability of free and reduced-price meals. Students from households that are receiving food stamps, California Work Opportunity and Responsibility to Kids (CalWORKs) or Food Distribution Program on Indian Reservations (FDPIR) benefits are automatically available for the free and reduced-price meals.

Households that are not receiving such benefits should list each household member and the amount and source of income for each member. The district has a chart of income levels to determine the eligibility of students to receive free and reduced-price meals. For example, a student from a household of four people is eligible for the free meals if the annual household income is $22,945 or below. A student from a four-member household is eligible for reduced price meals if the annual household income is $32,653. To obtain an application, call the district's food service office at 408.341.7000, ext. 4011.

Meg Stein, the association's president, said she expects about 200 people to show up for the event. Balloons, clowns and bubbles will be on hand to entertain the younger crowd.
