Police Blotter
Serial Pizza Buyer--July 23. An unknown suspect ordered pizza several times over the phone from a store on E. Hamilton Avenue using a San Jose resident's credit card number. The suspect has also used the card at other pizza restaurants in San Jose.
Make Like a Tree--July 24, 11:50 a.m. A 32-year-old San Jose man was booked into jail after he refused to leave a restaurant on E. Winchester Avenue. The restaurant owner is the suspect's estranged wife, who is the sole owner of the restaurant.
Branching Out--July 24, 10 p.m. A large tree branch broke off a tree and landed on a car parked on West Valley Drive.
Backyard Burglar--July 25, 8 a.m. An unknown suspect entered the backyard of a home on W. Sunnyoaks Avenue through an unlocked side gate and went inside the residence through an unlocked back door. The suspect took a $20 bill from the kitchen and left.
Keep on Truckin'--July 26, 1:25 a.m. While working on the Winchester Avenue paving project, a large truck smashed into the signal light pole.
Liquid Offense--July 26, 5:30 a.m. A man violated a restraining order by entering his ex-girlfriend's home on Whitwood Lane. At about 12:15 a.m. on the same morning, he broke a light in the home and then returned later to pour brake fluid on her car. He was gone before the police arrived both times.
Party Pooper--July 26. Two checks and a credit card were stolen from a victim who attended a party on Bascom Avenue on July 14. The checks were forged and cashed for more than $3,000.
Block Party--July 28, 7:15 a.m. An unknown suspect hit a cinder block fence, causing property damage in the Pruneyard Shopping Center's parking structure. The suspect left the car and fled the area.
Feline Fatality--July 28, 8 a.m. A mutilated cat was found in a parking lot on S. Winchester Avenue. The animal's body was turned over to animal control authorities to determine cause of death.
Small Fire--July 28, 9:22 p.m. A fire resulting from an electrical problem in a wall socket damaged an apartment on Latimer Circle and caused smoke damage to surrounding units.
