    LWV selects new officers

    The new officers for the Los Gatos, Saratoga and Monte Sereno League of Women Voters for 2000-2001 are: Marge Bunyard, president; Margaret Bard, vice president of programs; Sue Boyd, vice president of membership; Helga Ruby, administration; Barbara Mendenhall, secretary; and Dale Hill, treasurer.

    POST hosts Bear Creek briefing

    Elemental Arts, at 104 University Ave., will play host to a Peninsula Open Space Trust update of the Bear Creek Redwoods and other POST properties on Aug. 24, from 6 to 8 p.m.

    Bear Creek Redwoods, approximately 800 acres of forest above Lexington Reservoir, was purchased by POST last year. The organization has been working to pay off the $10 million loan it used to purchase the property. Once fundraising is complete, POST will turn the land over to Midpeninsula Regional Open Space District for public use.

    Democrats at Mirassou Winery

    Assemblyman Mike Honda will be the featured speaker at the Santa Clara County Democratic Club's annual dinner on Aug. 27, at the Mirassou Winery in Los Gatos.

    Honda, who is running for the 15th Congressional District, will be joined by other candidates, elected officials and fellow Democrats. The program includes a tour of the winery, wine tasting and a buffet dinner.
