    Students sharpen pencils and wits in time for school

    It's that time of year again, much to the chagrin of thousands of elementary, high school and college students throughout the area.

    Summer vacations are wrapping up, especially for families and teachers. The beginning of the school year also means it's time for drivers to slow down around schools when kids are present.

    Start dates for local schools are as follows:

    * Campbell Union High School District begins classes on Sept. 1;

    * Campbell Union School district is back in session Sept. 7;

    * Moreland Elementary School District returns Aug. 31.

    Find a home, sweet home on the Internet

    Campbell-based RE InfoLink has announced a new agreement with Yahoo! Inc. to post their residential listings on the Yahoo! Real Estate website. RE InfoLink, which has been operating in Campbell for about three years, offers multiple listing services for potential home buyers in San Mateo, Santa Clara, Santa Cruz, Monterey and San Benito counties.

    "Homebuyers increasingly are turning to the Internet as a time-saving resource," said Jeff Barnett, chairman of RE InfoLink's Board of Directors and vice president of Alain Pinel Realtors in Los Gatos. "Our new relationship with Yahoo! Real Estate will not only assist homebuyers in finding homes in the Silicon Valley area in an effective and convenient way, but will assist our member agents in reaching and working directly with current and future homebuyers."

    Yahoo! Real Estate enables people to view listings, browse through information on home values and mortgage rates and gather news from the industry. To view the website, log onto realestate.yahoo.com.
