    Campbell schools start class this week

    Campbell's high school classes begin Wednesday, Aug. 29, with each school operating on a different time schedule.

    Del Mar High School: 8:10 a.m.-2:10 p.m.

    Leigh High School: 8:20 a.m.-2 p.m.

    Branham High School: 8 a.m.-1:45 p.m.

    Blackford High School: 8:30 a.m.-1:55, except Wednesdays, when school ends at 11:30 a.m.

    Westmont High School: 8:25 a.m.-2:50 p.m.

    Prospect High School: 8:30 a.m.-2:45 p.m., except the first day of school, when classes finish at 11:55 a.m.

    The district's first holiday is Sept. 3, Labor Day. For more information, visit www.cuhsd.org.

    Campbell Union School District's schools start Tuesday, Aug. 28, each operating on a different time schedule.

    Blackford Elementary School: K-3, 8:05 a.m.-2:05 p.m., except Wednesdays, school ends at 1:05 p.m. Fourth and fifth grade, 7:50 a.m.-2:10 p.m., with school on Wednesdays finishing at 1:10 p.m.

    Campbell Middle School: 8:42 a.m.- 2:57 p.m.

    Capri Elementary School: K-3, 7:55 a.m.-1:55 p.m., except Wednesdays, school finishes at 12:55 p.m. Fourth and fifth grade, 8 a.m.-2:29 p.m., except Wednesdays, school finishes at 1 p.m.

    Castlemont Elementary: 8:25 a.m.-2:35 p.m., except Wednesdays, when school finishes at 1:35 p.m.

    Forest Hill Elementary School: 7:10 a.m.-2:15 p.m., except Wednesdays, when school finishes at 12:59 p.m.

    Hazelwood Elementary School: starts at 8:05 a.m. No other information was available at press time.

    Lynhaven Elementary School: K-3, 8:10 a.m.-2:10 p.m., except Wednesdays, school finishes at 1:10 p.m. Fourth and fifth grade, 8:15 a.m.-2:48 p.m., except Wednesdays, when school finishes at 1:06 p.m.

    Marshall Lane Elementary School: K-3, 8:20 a.m.-2:35 p.m. Fourth and fifth grade, 8:20 a.m.-2:40 p.m. On Wednesdays, all grades finish at 1:35 p.m.

    Monroe Middle School: 7:55 a.m.-2:05 p.m., except Wednesdays, when school finishes at 1:05 p.m.

    Rolling Hills Middle School: No information was available at press time.

    Rosemary Elementary School: K-3, 8:05 a.m.-2:15 p.m., except Wednesdays, when school finishes at 1:15 p.m. Fourth and fifth grade, 8:05 a.m.-2:30 p.m., except Wednesdays, when school finishes at 1:30 p.m.

    Sherman Oaks Community Charter School: 8 a.m.-3 p.m.

    Ballet Folklorico de Mexico comes to town

    Direct from the Palace of Fine Arts in Mexico City, the Ballet Folklorico de Mexico de Amalia Hernandez will perform in the United States with a 21-city tour. The company will perform at the San Jose State University Event Center, Sept. 15 at 8 p.m. and Sept. 16 at 3 p.m.

    The company's performance includes dances from pre-Hispanic rituals as well as colorful, humorous and dramatic depictions of Mexico's diverse culture and folklore. The 2001 United States tour pays homage to the company's founder, Amalia Hernandez, dancer and choreographer, who passed away in November 2000 at age 83.

    Tickets for the performance are $14 and $15 and can be purchased at the Mexican Heritage Corporation box office at 1700 Alum Rock Ave., San Jose, or call 800.642.8482.
