City businesses getting ready for fall festival and upcoming Octoberfest
By Michelle C. Crowe
Now is the time for all good businesses to come to the aid of their community. In Campbell, both major commerce organizations, the Downtown Campbell Business Association and the Campbell Chamber of Commerce are already gearing up for harvest at several fall events, particularly the Festival of Tables and the Octoberfest.
The third annual Festival of Tables will be from 7:30 to 10:30 p.m., Sept. 29, benefiting the Ainsley House and Heritage Museum, according to Marsha Smith, president of the Downtown Campbell Business Association and owner of mealtime favorite Mio Vicino.
Put on by the Campbell Museum Foundation, the evening will include hors d'oeuvres, deserts and beverages courtesy of local restaurants, a silent auction, a raffle, entertainment by a lounge performer, and dancing to music from a live pianist. "Right now we have about 15 to 17 tables reserved, so there's still room for more participation," says Ainsley House Museum Director Robert Pedretti. "The goal is to raise as much as possible, with the more money raised, the better."
Businesses sponsor an eight-person table at $25 per person ($200 per table) and invite customers and guests. Each table is then decorated with a particular theme of the sponsor's choice, to provoke conversation and provide entertainment. The Ainsley House is located at 300 Grant St., between city hall and the Campbell Library. Interested parties can call 408.866.2118 for details on participating. Plans for future DCBA events can be obtained by calling Smith at 408.378.0665.
Volunteers for either event should consider attending the special alcoholic beverage control volunteer training session Sept. 20 from 6-8 p.m. at the Campbell Community Center. It will cover the required protocol for handling and serving alcohol at special events. In addition, all volunteers who served at chamber events over the past year are invited to an appreciation picnic Sept. 23 from 4 to7 p.m. at John D. Morgan Park. Details on this and other chamber events can be obtained by calling 408.378.6252.
