Sunnyside Avenue is a short street where a blockade is set up because it backs up to railroad tracks. Running parallel, one street north, is Alice Avenue, also a short street. But Alice Avenue is different from Sunnyside Avenue in one respect--it's a historical district. This means that the homes on this street are designated historical landmarks, with the consent of the residents. The houses, built in the early 1900s, sit on large lots, surrounded by trees that have probably been around as long as the buildings. In contrast, while Sunnyside Avenue may have what could be considered historical homes, a few of them are missing. Over the last several years, some of the owners have decided to demolish the homes and replace them with new buildings.
