Police Blotter
Change of Heart--Oct. 11, 8:25 p.m. A man has an emergency protective restraining order issued against him by a woman who lives on Milton Ave. The woman invited the man to her house so she could care for his illness. She has also been visiting him at his hotel room for the past week. A neighbor notified police that he was back at the woman's house. The woman did not desire prosecution. The case was referred to the District Attorney.
Good Intuition--Oct. 11, 7:04 p.m. A woman called Suicide Prevention to tell them she was depressed and wanted to commit suicide. When police arrived, the woman was assessed to be a danger to herself. She was subsequently transported to Valley Medical Center emergency protective services and placed in a 72-hour hold.
Financial Fist Fight--Oct. 11, 2:02 p.m. A husband and wife got into a fight over finances. The husband punched and kicked his wife numerous times. She received a laceration over her left eye and on her forehead. She was transported to Valley Medical Center. The man was arrested and taken to Valley Medical Center for clearance due to a split knuckle. He was then booked.
Cranky Crank Caller--Oct. 9, 10:08 a.m. A man has been harassing his ex-girlfriend by making annoying phone calls to her work. They have a child together and the woman has custody. She said she does not want him to have visitation since he has been acting strange lately.
Nosy Neighbor--Oct. 7, 10:23 p.m. Police arrived at the Pruneyard to investigate a report of trespassing. A 20-year-old San Jose man delayed the investigating officer. He was not the suspect, but decided to get involved anyway. He would not follow the officer's directions and kept delaying him. The man was cited and released.
Paper Protest--Oct. 8, 2-6 a.m. Approximately 200 newspaper delivery drivers gathered outside the San Jose Mercury News offices on Hacienda Street to protest pay and work conditions. Management is working with them to come to agreement. News cameras and photographers showed up at the event, which remained peaceful. The Mercury News was preparing to have others deliver the paper and requested heavy patrol checks in addition to their own security staff.
