Alie's Corner cafe now open for dinner, too

Employers coming to town for EDD job fair

    By Renee Canada

After three years of featuring only breakfast and lunch items on their menu, Alie's Corner Café, at 360 E. Campbell Ave., started serving dinner for the first time last week. The café has expanded its hours for evening munching on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays from 5:30 to 9 p.m.

Partner Eileen Tam said her business plan had never included dinner, which was why she never thought to cash in on the night market before. So why the change now? Tam explained that it was due to customers' request.

"We think we now see a demand for dinner here," she said.

Fans of Alie's home-style cooking can now enjoy steaks and fresh fish on the dinner menu. For more information, call 408.871.0533.

If you're looking to fill up your Rolodex, you can head over to Furlong Vision Correction, at 900 E. Hamilton Ave., Suite 180, for some schmoozing on Thursday, Oct. 26. Bring your business cards for a great opportunity to network at the Campbell Chamber of Commerce Afterhours Mixer.

The event takes place from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. and will feature food, refreshments and prizes. RSVP to Martha at 408.371.6000.

With fresh contacts in hand, you can start looking for new employment at the job fair at 2450 S. Bascom Ave. on Thursday, Nov. 16. The San Jose office of the state Employment Development Department will sponsor the event, which will take place from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Find out the career opportunities available at companies like Trader Joe's, Valley Medical Center, United Airlines, Viking Freight and Nob Hill Foods.

The job fair is free and open to the public. Call Mike at 408.369.3624 for more information.
