Campbell needs a 'habitat' for the arts
We the people of Campbell should donate to the Heritage Theater. It is a great little theater that has stood empty all these years and could have been filled like the city of Saratoga does its City Hall Auditorium.
They fill it with all the wonderful productions from the Saratoga Theater Group and the West Valley Light Opera Association. It would give talented people of Campbell opportunities to entertain us and a chance to see wonderful productions at so much less than the average ticket price these days.
Many of us have good memories of Marie Stinett's Nutcracker, which our children danced in.
If we all pitched in with small and large donations, we could have something rewarding for our community. It already has adequate parking facilities and the location is ideal. Our local dancing schools and music instructors should be more than willing to help, as those future students could certainly benefit from it.
I praise the city for buying our old high school, our one big landmark, and keeping it as it was. As a resident for over 50 years, I'm glad to be part of a group finally taking action. Four million dollars is a whale of a price, but the result should make us proud for many years. Maybe a little "habitat for humanity" for Campbell alumni would be nice, too.

Do You Solstice?
December marks not only the arrival of sleigh bells and extended mall hours, but also the winter solstice--the shortest day of the year and a traditional celebration of light. The Campbell Reporter is interested to know if, and how, our readers celebrate the solstice and other alternative ways of commemorating the holidays. Please contact Sarah at sarahww@earthlink.net or call the Reporter at 408.364.2640 ext. 201.
