Holiday 2000 benefit will help museum, Ainsley House

    Auction will include sports memorabilia

    By Renee Canada

Come celebrate the holidays early at Alie's Corner Café on Thursday, Nov. 9, as Alie's joins the Campbell Historical Museum to launch their Holiday 2000 fundraiser. Proceeds from the event will benefit the Campbell Historical Museum and Ainsley House.

The festivities take place from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Enter the drawing to win a trip to Las Vegas and escape the rainy winter. A silent auction of sports memorabilia, gift certificates and other items will also be held. People will have a chance to taste delectable holiday goodies and preview the museum's holiday gifts. Alie's is downtown at 360 E. Campbell Ave.

If you're in business, you know that finding good employees can be key to your company's success. But sometimes that's easier said than done. To help you find out how and where to hire workers, come to the Chamber of Commerce's monthly luncheon on Wednesday, Nov. 15.

This month's luncheon will be at Three Flames Restaurant at 1547 Meridian Ave. in San Jose. Special guests for the luncheon are representatives from the state Employment Development Department, Cisco Systems and an employment agency that will be hosting a panel on how to lure and keep strong employees. Come to share your tips and hear advice from the experts. To RSVP, call the Chamber at 408.378.6252.

You may have noticed the major construction projects underway downtown and wondered when are they ever going to stop? While it looks as if the building of the new Stoddard's brewpub won't end anytime soon, progress has been made. Recently, 240 cu. yd. of concrete was poured into its foundation at 200 E. Campbell Ave. When complete, the facility will be a full sit-down restaurant with a capacity of 255 people. It will also be able to accommodate banquets of up to 600 people.
