Sheriff's deputy is arrested for DUI
Deputy Sheriff William Majesky, a 49-year-old Campbell resident, was arrested Oct. 31, for driving under the influence of alcohol.
According to Assistant District Attorney Karyn Sinunu, Majesky was driving into his Union Avenue apartment complex parking lot when he ran into a carport.
The collision knocked off the front wheel of Majesky's white Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck, Gullo said. Nevertheless, the off-duty deputy continued to drive for a short while before exiting his vehicle to chat with apartment residents.
His blood alcohol level was .20 percent, significantly higher than the legal limit of .08 percent, according to Sinunu.
Majesky was booked into Santa Clara County jail and his car was towed. He has since been released.
As a first-time offender, Majesky could face up to six months in jail and a $1,000 fine, if he is convicted.
Majesky, a 20-year veteran of the Sheriff's Department, had been working in the Court Security Division until his arrest. He is currently on paid administrative leave, pending the result of an internal investigation by the Sheriff's Department. The internal investigation will not begin until the conclusion of the criminal investigation, according to Sheriff's spokesman Sgt. John Hirokawa.
Hirokawa said even if no criminal charges are filed against Majesky, he may still be disciplined by the sheriff's office. Sanctions could range from a written reprimand to dismissal.
"If he's found not guilty on DUI, that doesn't mean nothing can happen to him with regard to his job," he said. "Obviously, officers can't violate the law, but there's also a code of ethics and standard of conduct."
Police are looking for robbery suspect
Campbell police and the FBI are seeking the arrest of a man for the robbery of a Hamilton Avenue bank.
On Oct. 26, at 9:12 a.m., the man entered Bay View Bank at 750 W. Hamilton Ave. With several customers inside the bank, the suspect handed a note to the teller. The note said that the man had a gun and demanded that the teller give money to the man.
The suspect fled the scene with an undisclosed amount of cash before police arrived.
The suspect was described by witnesses as a white male in his early 20s, around 5 feet 5 inches tall, 180 pounds, with ashy brown hair and a goatee. He was wearing a black-hooded sweater and black baggy pants.
Anyone with information pertaining to the case should contact the Campbell Police Department at 408.866.2101.
