    Pony Signups

    The Campbell Pony League will hold signups for the 2001 baseball season on Nov. 28 and Dec. 5, 12 and 19, 7-8 p.m. each day, at John D. Morgan Park in Campbell. The league is open to players ages 13-14. The registration fee is $75 and all players must provide a birth certificate. For more information, call 408.866.5264.

    Stanford Clinics

    The annual Stanford Holiday Baseball Clinics return to The Farm this year with sessions scheduled for Thanksgiving weekend and during Christmas vacation.

    Pitching clinics and baseball instruction for players ages 12-18 will be conducted Nov. 24-26, Dec. 18-20 and Dec. 27-29 at Stanford. The cost is $115 per session.

    Vikes women win, Jaguars fall

    The women's volleyball teams at West Valley Community College and San Jose City College had different results in Coast Conference matches last week.

    The Vikings handled Hartnell 15-11, 17-15, 15-13 in a close match. The win helped West Valley improve to 8-10 for the year and 5-7 in conference play.

    The Jaguars saw their record evened at 11-11 after losing a hard-fought decision to Cabrillo. The Jags dropped a 15-2, 15-12, 10-15, 15-5 decision to the Seahawks.

    Vikes water polo team wins title

    A six-goal third quarter sparked the West Valley Community College men's water polo team to a tight 11-8 win over San Diego Mesa in the state championship game last week.

    The Vikings, who finished the year 22-3-1, led 3-1 after a period, but trailed 4-3 after being held scoreless in the second quarter.

    West Valley battled back to outscore Mesa 6-2 in the third to go in front 9-6, then the Vikes matches Mesa's two goals in the fourth to hold on for the three-goal victory.

    Masters Swimming

    The West Valley Swim Club hosts its master program and lap swimming at the Saratoga High School pool, Monday through Friday, 6-7:30 a.m. and 6-7:30 p.m., and Saturdays, 7-8:30 a.m.

    Swimmers must register with Pacific Masters Swimming. The fee is $5 per swim, $50 for a 20-swim card or $40 per month.
