Suspects arrested in bank robberies
By Leigh Ann Maze
Santa Clara police officers on Dec. 20 arrested two men in connection with a string of bank robberies, including one at California Federal Bank in Los Gatos on Dec. 14.
Aron Christopher Alexander, 33, of Santa Clara was arrested at his residence on four counts of robbery. David Paul Rossi, 48, of San Jose was arrested for three counts of robbery at a nearby hospital, where he was undergoing treatment for substance abuse.
Investigators from the San Jose Police Department, the Los Gatos-Monte Sereno Police Department, the Santa Clara Police Department and the FBI worked together to apprehend the suspects.
Alexander is believed to be responsible for a string of four bank robberies occurring between Dec. 9 and Dec. 17 in Los Gatos, Santa Clara and San Jose. During these robberies, the suspect approached the teller and placed a day-planner on the counter containing a hold-up note and a handgun, which investigators believe to be a metal replica. Rossi is believed to be the getaway driver in three of the bank robberies.
The two men are in custody at the Santa Clara County Jail awaiting court arraignment.
