Assault—Aug. 25, 7:30 p.m. A 23-year-old man got into an argument with his girlfriend at the corner of Waldo Road and Kenneth Avenue. He punched her in the face, causing a welt. He was booked.
DUI—Aug. 24, 3:20 a.m. An intoxicated 22-year-old male motorist from San Jose collided with a police officer on Winchester Boulevard. The motorist was booked, and his vehicle was towed.
Assault—Aug. 23, 7:30 p.m.8 p.m. Two suspects approached a motorist filling up at a gas station near the Pruneyard on S. Bascom Avenue. They demanded money, but the motorist denied he had any. The suspects brandished a knife and made several cuts to the victim's arms. The suspects then ran toward Bascom Avenue, to a parked older model dark green Cadillac. Both suspects were described as having medium-dark skin and weighing 190 to 195 pounds. One was described as bald, and the other as having a goatee and a tattoo on his right bicep.
Vandalism—Aug. 23, 4:40 p.m. Two cement blocks were thrown through the front and rear windows of a Ford on W. Hamilton Avenue. No property was stolen from inside the car. No suspects have been identified.
Fugitive Surrenders—Aug. 22, 1 p.m. Police booked a 19-year-old man when he surrendered himself at the Campbell Police Station for his involvement in a Campbell home-invasion robbery and kidnapping. He was one of three suspects Campbell police had been looking for. Another was arrested in Seattle on an unrelated drug charge. The 19-year-old, who was also in Seattle, reported that he felt tired of being on the run. Police cooperated with the man's family to arrange for his surrender. He is being held without bail.
Resisting Arrest—Aug. 21, 7:03 p.m. An 18-year-old male was drinking and smoking marijuana at Forrest Hills Elementary School. Officers caught and booked him after he tried to escape.
Battery—Aug. 20, 6 p.m. A 53-year-old woman hit her 15-year-old granddaughter on the arm. The incident was reported, but the woman was not prosecuted.
Vehicle Accident—Aug. 19, 1:35 p.m. A 71-year-old San Jose man experienced a heart problem while driving his 1986 Ford Crown Victoria on W. Campbell Avenue. He drove over the island just before the railroad tracks and crashed into the "Historic Downtown" sign and wall. The man was rushed to Valley Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead. The vehicle sustained major damage. The masonry sustained smash marks, and the signage lost some lettering.
