CUSD hires, promotes new administrators this year
The Campbell Union School District has hired and promoted several new administrators to work in its 13 schools this year.

Lynhaven's new principal is Kathleen Jacobsen. Jacobsen comes to the district with 11 years of administrative experience and additional years of teaching. She worked for the California Department of Education in the curriculum waiver division. Prior to this she worked as an elementary school teacher, elementary school vice principal, and district-level curriculum specialist for Mt. Diablo Unified School District. She has also taught in Burlingame and has a strong background in math and science.

Capri's new principal is Wayne Leach. Leach comes to the CUSD with two years of administrative experience and additional years of experience in teaching. He has a curriculum development background and worked as a middle school vice principal in Lancaster. He has also been a successful elementary school vice principal in a year-round school in that district. In the CUSD, he has replaced Debbi Garcia, who was become the district's director of assessment and accountability.

At Monroe, Shelly Viramontez was promoted from vice principal to principal for the coming school year. She replaced Maurice Ghysels, who is now the district's assistant superintendent of human resources.

Monroe's new vice principal is Geertje Bamford. In addition to six years of teaching at Monroe, Bamford has spent the past three years as Monroe's intervention specialist.

At Blackford, Susan Zimmer will remain as principal. She was interim principal last year. In the past, she served as a teacher, administrator, and Moreland School District governing board member.

Rolling Hills' new vice principal is Monica Clem. Clem comes to the CUSD from the Redwood City School District with experience as a middle school teacher and a background in developing middle school curriculum. Before becoming vice principal at Rolling Hills, she worked as the district's middle school literacy coach.

Clem replaces Matthew Nagle, who will be Marshall Lane's new principal. Nagle joined the CUSD in 1999 as a bilingual teacher at Rosemary Elementary School and was soon promoted to vice principal at Rolling Hills Middle School. Before coming to the CUSD, he taught various grade levels for six years. As an elementary and middle school teacher in the NEA-Jurupa Unified School District, he was a staff leader for bilingual programs, as well as technology and other programs.

"Each of these school site administrators is a marvelous addition to the district's management team. They are eager to meet the community and begin the important work of educating the children of this district," said Marla Olszewski, spokeswoman for the CUSD.
