Opening day

The Campbell Little League will hold its opening day ceremonies for the 2003 season on March 29, 8 a.m., at Robert Holman Field at Rosemary School on Hamilton Avenue between Winchester and San Tomas Expressway.


Pioneer Stampede

The 10th annual Mustang Stampede Golf Tournament, sponsored by the Pioneer High School Athletic Booster Club, will be held on May 9 at the Santa Teresa Golf Course.

The 144-player field will tee off in a 12:30 p.m. shotgun start. The cost is $150 per player in the four-person scramble tournament.


Cat's Hill

The 29th annual Cat's Hill Criterium will return to Los Gatos on May 10. The event, hosted each year by the Los Gatos Bicycle Racing Club and sanctioned by the U.S. Cycling Federation, features many of the nation's best amateur and professional riders, who compete on a rugged one-mile road course that covers the back streets of town.


Warrior night

The Saratoga Stake for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints will host a night with the Golden State Warriors on April 8, 7:30 p.m., at the Oakland Arena. The Warriors will play the Utah Jazz, and tickets are priced at $22 for the lower level and $10 for the upper level. All orders must be received by April 4. Scholarship

The Bay Area Sports Hall of Fame is now accepting entries from high school juniors and seniors in the annual Art Rosenbaum Sports Writing Scholarship program.

Young journalists can enter sports-related articles published in their high school publications for the chance to win scholarships of $2,500, $1,500 or $1,000.

Articles must have been published between April 15, 2002, and April 15, 2003. The entry deadline is April 15.


Youth volleyball

The U.S. Youth Volleyball League is currently holding sign-ups for its eight-week spring program, which will begin April 8 at Kirk Park in San Jose. The instructional league is open to players ages 8­14 and operates in a coed format. For more information, call 888.988.7985 or visit www.usyvl.org.
