Family Tree: Campbell resident Connie Zanotto, the oldest of three children, continually bumps into members of her family. The Zanotto family is known for their markets in the South Bay. Her parents, Rita and Conrad, opened their first store, the Thrifty Market, in a location near what is today the San Jose International Airport.

The Zanotto family enjoys a kind of celebrity in the Bay Area, their upscale markets having served various Silicon Valley communities for decades. While none of the children of Conrad and Rita Zanotto, the market's founders, have chosen to go into the grocery business, they continue to contribute to the Zanotto legacy by making the South Bay their home base.

| After a high percentage of Branham High School students failed the math portion of the California High School Exit Exam, math teacher Donnetta Torrecillas took matters into her own hands, starting a remedial math program that recently won national recognition.
