Starbucks expands
its grant program
This is the fourth year that Starbucks Coffee Company has sponsored its Grants for Giving Program. The 2004 program will support local nonprofit organizations and charitable agencies by awarding grants totaling $375,000.
The focus of the Starbucks Grants for Giving Program is to support and fund programs, services or projects designed to help build better futures for youth and families in Northern California. All groups considered for these grants must be registered 501(c)3 nonprofit organizations.
Organizations that fit these criteria and other eligibility requirements should submit a Letter of Intent to Starbucks that outlines the organization and project plan by 5 p.m. on Feb. 27.

Scholarships given
to 10 local scholars
Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage continues to help teens get ahead. Its "Path to Excellence" scholarship program benefits graduating Silicon Valley high school students and assists them in their continuing education.
Ten Silicon Valley scholars will be selected from 38 public high schools in Santa Clara and San Benito counties. Each winning scholar will earn a $2,000 scholarship.
