Softball sign-ups

Sign-ups for girls ages 5-16 interested in playing in the Campbell Girls Fastpitch Softball 2006 recreational season will be held Oct. 19, 6-8:30 p.m., in the cafeteria at Forest Hills Elementary School, 4450 McCoy Ave., San Jose. Players must provide a birth certificate and medical insurance information. Players of all experience levels are welcome. For more information, visit www.campbellsoftball.com.


Adult tennis

Two teams of local recreational tennis players were to represent the United States Tennis Association's Northern California section at the USA League Tennis 6.0 and 7.0 Super Senior National Championships in Palm Springs, Oct. 17-19. Herb Yamasaki of Campbell is a member of the NorCal men's team.


Girls lacrosse

Girls Lacrosse of San Jose is holding registration for the spring season and is holding Sunday clinics throughout October at Kirk Community Center, 1601 Foxworthy Ave.

Clinics are held from noon to 2 p.m. for high school girls and 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. for middle school girls, and are geared toward girls who want to sample lacrosse in order to decide whether to join the club next spring. Loaner equipment will be provided but girls should bring a mouth guard. The cost is $5 per session and no pre-registration is required.

Girls Lacrosse of San Jose is a non-profit club with two teams for middle school players and a team for high school players. The club is also starting a developmental team for players in the second through fourth graders.

SCU golf tourney

The annual Santa Clara University Bronco Baseball Golf Tournament will be played on Oct. 21 at Cinnabar Hills Golf Club, 23600 McKean Road in San Jose.

The best ball scramble tournament begins with a 12:30 p.m. shotgun start following registration that begins at 10 a.m. The tournament will be followed by a 6:30 p.m. dinner, auction and raffle. The cost is $275 and the cost for dinner only is $65. Included in the entry fee will be green fees, a golf cart, a foursome photograph, range balls, tee prizes, lunch and dinner. Proceeds of the tourney will support the Santa Clara University baseball program.
