Hot StoveTroy Tulowitzki of the Colorado Rockies will top the list when master of ceremonies Ted Robinson announces the line-up of winners at the 24th annual Santa Clara County Hot Stove Banquet on Jan. 29 at the San Jose Elks Club, 444 W. Alma Ave.
Major League umpires Ted Barrett and Ed Montague will be special guests at the event that will also honor Jeremy Guthrie of the Baltimore Orioles.
Tickets are $40 per person, $400 for a reserved table for 10 ($350 for a reserved table for 10 for youth, high school, community college and college baseball groups). For more details, call Al Talboy at 408.446.3443.
Umps needed
The Santa Clara Valley Federation of Umpires is looking for baseball umpires, experienced or not, to work the 2008 summer baseball season that includes Pony, Colt, Palomino, American Legion and Oldtimers games. Campbell LL
The Campbell Little League will hold sign-ups for players ages 5-12 (as of April 30, 2008) for the 2008 season in January and February at the league clubhouse, Hamilton Avenue at Milich Drive. The registration fee is $75 (a maximum of $150 per family).
Sign-up dates include Jan. 24 and 31 and Feb. 7, 6:30-7:30 p.m., and Jan. 26 and Feb. 2 and 9, 8:30-11 a.m.
Players must provide an original birth certificate and three documents to prove residency within league boundaries.
