Cupertino softball

The Cupertino girls softball league will hold sign-ups for the 1998 season on Jan. 10 and 24, 9 a.m.-noon, and Jan. 28, 6-8 p.m., at the Monta Vista Rec Center, located at Foothill Boulevard and Voss Road. For more information, call 866-7805 or 252-2248.

Baseball sign-ups

It's time for the youngsters of Cupertino and their parents to start thinking about the upcoming youth baseball season. Sign-ups are coming up soon in local leagues:

Cupertino American Little League--Sign-ups are set for Jan. 7. 6:30-9 p.m., and Jan. 10, 10 a.m.-2 p.m., at the Round Table Pizza Parlor, 6138 Bollinger Road. For more information, call Dennis Conroy at 255-6672.

Cupertino National Little League--Sign-ups for the 1998 season will be held on Jan 7, 7-9 p.m., in the Cupertino Room of the Quinlan Community Center. Sign-ups and try-outs will be held Jan. 10, 10 a.m.-3 p.m., at Kennedy Junior High. For more information, call Barbara Polk at 255-8767.

Tri-Cities Pacific Little League--Sign-ups will be held Jan. 6, 7-9 p.m., and Jan. 10, 9 a.m.-1 p.m., in the library at Hyde Junior High School, 19325 Bollinger Road. For more information, call Chris Ollila at 327-9650.

Coaches needed

Presentation varsity softball coach Duffy D'Angelo is looking for experienced softball coaches for the junior varsity and freshman teams at the school. Practice begins in mid-January. For more information, call D'Angelo at 236-3143.

Sports & Boat Show

The 56th annual San Francisco Sports & Boat Show returns to the Cow Palace in Daly City for its 10-day run Jan. 16-25.

Featured at the event will be the queen of the show's fleet of 600 boats, the Oceanis 40-footer, produced in France by Beneteau and priced at $210,000; a championship race boat from Jelly Belly in Candyland; a Joe DiMaggio autographed baseball that will be awarded by Jelly Belly; a museum of 95 rare commemorative Colt revolvers; and regular features like Vacationland Hall, Fisherman's Hall, Hunter's Hall, and fishing ponds for children.

Doors open at noon on weekdays and at 11 a.m. on weekends. The admission price is $7 and $3. Seniors are admitted for half price on weekdays.
