    Little League signups

    Local leagues in Little League District 44 have announced early registration for the 2000 spring season. Players must live within league boundaries and must present a birth certificate and proof of residency to enroll.

    Tri-Cities Pacific-- Signups to age 16 will be held Thursday, Jan. 13, 6-9 p.m., and Saturday, Jan. 15, 10 a.m.-2 p.m., at the Rancho Rinconada Rec building, Chelmsford and Bollinger Road. For information, call Ron Esparza at 408.446.5352 or 408.327.9650 (or contact www.tcplayball.com).

    Challenger Division-- Signups for physically and mentally disabled youngsters, ages 7-17. Registration is free. Play is from March to June. For more information, call Ken or Anneliese Jones at 408.615.8807.

    Bobby Sox signups

    The Blue Hills Bobby Sox girls fast-pitch softball league will hold signups for girls ages 5-18 on Saturdays Jan. 15 and 22, 11 a.m.-3 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 20, 7-9 p.m., and Wednesday, Jan. 26, 7-9 p.m., at Round Table Pizza, 6138 Bollinger Road (at Miller next to Safeway).

    There is a $75 fee per player which includes uniform, pictures, and participation trophy. Players must provide a birth certificate, medical insurance information, doctor's name and phone number, dates of last physical exam and tetanus booster, and a utility bill for address verification.

    The league holds practices and plays its games at Dilworth Elementary School in West San Jose. Opening day is March 11.
