    Peninsula Symphony

    The Peninsula Symphony, led by conductor Mitchell Sardou Klein, will perform on Jan. 20, at 8 p.m. at the Flint Center at De Anza College in Cupertino. The concert will feature Millhaud's Suite Provençale, world premiere of John Beeman's Concerto for Electric Guitar and Orchestra, Griffes, The Pleasure Dome of Kubla Kahn and Debussy's Petite Suite, accompanied by projection of impressionist and other style of paintings.     Free citizenship classes

    Fremont High School is hosting two free citizenship classes for legal residents, 18 years or older, with five years residence status who need English as a second language instruction in reading, writing and speaking to pass the citizenship test. The class will instruct participants about United States history, federal, state and local governments, how to fill out the N-400 application and provide practice written tests. The citizenship preparation class is for more advanced English-speakers, and will be more in-depth and move at a faster pace. The ESL citizenship preparation class is for people at an intermediate level of English, and is geared to help with the vocabulary necessary to pass the citizenship test. Classes will be held on Mondays and Wednesdays, from 7 to 9 p.m. Jan. 22 through March 28, at Fremont High School. The advanced-English class will be held in room 95, and the ESL class will be in room 90. Registration takes place during the first class. For more information, call 408.522.2735.

    Art Exhibition

    The Euphrat Museum of Art at De Anza College will host the De Anza College and Foothill College Faculty Art Exhibition Jan. 9 through Feb. 1. The exhibition presents a variety of artwork created by the full-time art faculty from the two colleges. Sculpture, painting, drawing, prints, mixed media, photography, ceramics and more will be on display. An artists reception will be held on Jan. 23, from 6 to 8 p.m. Museum hours are Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., Tuesdays, from 6 to 8 p.m. and Saturdays, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. For more information, call 408.864.8836.

    Gustavus Choir to perform at Bethel Lutheran

    The Gustavus Choir of Gustavus Adolphus College, Saint Peter, Minn., will appear in concert on Jan. 18, at 7 p.m. at Bethel Lutheran Church, 10181 Finch Ave. in Cupertino. The 66-year-old, 65-voice choir is on a 20-city tour. The concert will feature a mix of historical and contemporary choral works, spirituals and traditional hymns.     Perfect Speaking Skills

    The Tandem Toastmaster's Club invites the public to learn speaking and presentation skills, learn how to think quickly and clearly, better listening talents and strong leadership skills at their weekly meetings, Wednesdays, from noon to 1 p.m. at Compaq, 10501 N.
