    Giants need homes

The San Jose Giants, a Class A affiliate of the San Francisco Giants, are looking for local families to take in their players each season.

The search is currently on for host families for the 2002 season which runs April through August. Linda Pereira of the Giants needs to find enough families for the players by early March.

Host families provide a player with a room, and the Giants provide season tickets and parking passes for all of the club's games at San Jose Municipal Stadium. The team also hosts picnics for the families and sponsors an annual trip to a San Francisco Giants game at Pac Bell Park.

For more information on the host family program, call Pereira at 408.297.1435, ext. 19.

    Golf for Broncos

The Santa Clara University Bronco Baseball Golf Tournament will be held on Jan. 25 at Cinnabar Hills Golf Club in San Jose.

The tourney features an 11:30 a.m. shotgun start and will be followed by a dinner, auction and raffle. The registration fee is $215 and includes cart, green fees, range balls, tee prizes, lunch and dinner. (Cost for the dinner only is $50.)

The field in the best ball scramble tourney is limited to 144 golfers.

For information, contact Mike Oakland at 408.554.4882 or JMOakland@scu.edu, or Tom Myers at 408.554.5267.
