Sheriff's Report

The following incidents were culled from reports filed by deputies at the sheriff's westside substation.

Burglary--Jan. 12, 9:15 p.m., 10600 block of S. Foothill Boulevard. An unknown suspect kicked in a closet door at the Speedy Queen Laundry Mat. The suspect took a tool chest, tools and laundry soap.

Grand Theft--Jan. 12, 2:45, Sears. The suspect entered the store with intent to steal video games so he could sell them for money. The suspect crawled behind the sales counter and took video games from the display case. The video games were concealed in the suspect's backpack. The suspect exited the store without paying for them.

Commercial Burglary--Jan. 12, 8:30 a.m., Mackey Floor Coverings. Six buckets of glue and a carpet stripper were taken out of a fenced area behind Mackey Floor Coverings. The padlock was cut off the gate, and the gate was then bent and forced open. The locked sheds inside the fenced area were not disturbed and nothing else appeared to be missing. No suspect information was available.

Vehicular Burglary--Jan. 10, 1 p.m., Home of Christ Church. The victim parked her vehicle in the rear parking lot of the Home of Christ Church and left her purse in the back seat. When she returned, her right rear passenger side window was broken and her purse was missing. The victim had her California driver's license, bank checks and approximately $40 in cash in her purse. No suspect information was available.

Petty Theft--Jan. 3, 1:30 p.m., Target. The suspect carried two items, a Discman and a small tape player, out of Target's electronics area and into the sporting goods area. He took the items out of their packages, put on the headphones, carried the Discman and placed the tape player in his pocket. The suspect then wandered around the store for about an hour. He purchased some food inside and exited the store without paying for the items. He was placed under private-persons arrest outside the store.
