    Scouts put on fair

    In celebration of the founding of the Boy Scouts of America in 1910, the Boy Scouts of Santa Clara County are putting on a fair for the community, Feb. 9 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at various locations in the area. These include Troop 407 at the Monte Vista Recreation Center; Troop 457 at the Good Samaritan Methodist Church; Troop 476 at St. Joseph of Cupertino Church; Troop 479 at St. Jude Episcopal Church; Troop 494 at Kennedy Junior High School; and Troop 508 at Saratoga High School.

    The scouts will be demonstrating cooking, camping, first aid, knot tying and many other activities. Those with questions can contact Bob Wedig at 408.735.0408 (home) or 408.996.7613 (work).

    Sedgwick holds informational night

    The Cupertino Mandarin Immersion Program will highlight the Alternative Program Night Jan. 30 from 7 to 9 p.m. at Sedgwick Elementary School, located at 19200 Phil Lane.

    The mission of the immersion program is to give students of the Cupertino Unified School District the opportunity to develop high levels of proficiency in understanding, speaking, reading and writing both English and Mandarin. Interested parents can tour the immersion program classroom starting in February and through early March. For more details, contact Collins Elementary School Principal Karen Barrett at 408.252.6002.

    Diana remembered Feb. 6 at library

    A multimedia presentation, titled "Remembering Diana," by author Susan Maxwell Skinner, will be held Feb. 6 at 7:30 p.m. in the Community Room at the Cupertino Library.

    Skinner will discuss her years with the Buckingham Palace Press Corp. and give insights into the princess' life, which will include video images of Diana. Contact the library at 408.446.1677 for more information.

    Farmers' Market returns

    Yee-haw! The California Certified Farmer's Market is back at the Vallco Fashion Park Mall, Fridays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. All kinds of fruits and vegetables, breads, pastries, specialty sauces and old-fashioned popped kettle corn are available at the market, which is located in the parking lot at the mall.
