McWhorter's service reopened

Cupertino residents now have a more centralized location to which they can go for all their postal service needs. McWhorter & Young has contracted with the U.S. Postal Service to open a postal service station within its store, located at 20558 Stevens Creek Blvd.
The station will provide all the services of the main post office except for international money orders or cash on deliveries, employee Susan Souza said. The store also has a full line of mailing supplies, including envelopes and a complete selection of shipping boxes.
Co-owner Steve Carothers said three register stations will be operating during peak periods and businesses are welcome to do bulk mailings at the store. The main post office is mailing 20,000 postcards to residents within a 10-mile radius, informing them of the new postal service location. The mailing includes a coupon for $5 off any $25 purchase.
The store offers discounts for large supply orders and same-day delivery of items that are in stock.
The post office service will be open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and will be closed Sundays.
A month-long promotion will offer users of the postal service 10 percent discount coupons for any store purchases.
"We are working with the school district to eventually give all teachers a 10 percent discount on school supplies," Carothers said.
Carothers worked at McWhorters for 10 years, and when the corporation announced it would be closing the store, he and his business partner, Dave Howser, purchased it and renamed it after the chain's founders. They celebrated its grand opening last September.
