    Theater to be built in Vallco mall

    Century Theaters, a motion picture exhibitor based in San Rafael, and The Richard E. Jacobs Group, owner and developer of Vallco Fashion Park, have announced plans to build a new multiplex theater at the shopping center. The theater will represent a focal point in the redesign of the fashion park, and will sit on the mall's southwest side along Wolfe Road, near JC Penney.

    The movie theater will have 16 screens will have the latest in state-of-the-art sound and projection equipment, THX certification, stadium seating with love seats and rocking chair loge seats, giant wall-to-wall screens, and a Cinema café. Construction is set to begin in the Fall of 2001, and the theater should open during the holiday season in 2002.

    Boy Scouts of America celebrating 90th anniversary

    In celebration of the founding of the Boy Scouts of America in 1910, the Boy Scouts of Santa Clara County are putting on a fair for the community to show what Scouting is all about. On Feb. 10, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., troops in Sunnyvale, Cupertino and Saratoga will be demonstrating cooking, camping, first aid, knot tying and many other Boy Scout activities. Each troop will present their exhibit in the location where they normally meet and the community is invited to come visit the troops at their exhibit locations to learn more about them.
