    Teachers need contract

Teachers in the Cupertino Union School District have been working without a contract since June 200l. Negotiations with the district have been moving very slowly. Teachers are working hard to develop a fair settlement, considering the budget constraints. They are looking to negotiate a contract that would meet everyone's needs. Particularly important is the need to retain and recruit qualified teachers. A contract that supports teachers would benefit everyone: the district, teachers, students and the community.
