Arts grant deadline looms on Feb. 15

Aspiring artists and art organizations seeking fine arts grants have until Feb. 15 to apply for the first cycle awarded by the Cupertino Fine Arts Commission. The selection criteria is based on a number of questions: whether the organization encourages diverse fine arts programs; provides for evaluation and accountability; serves a wide range of citizens or groups not already served; and expands fine arts activities in the community.

Those interested in applying should contact the Cupertino city clerk's office at 408.777.3223.

    Playground opens at Cupertino High

A ribbon cutting ceremony was held Feb. 12 for a new Tot Center Playground located on the grounds of Cupertino High School. The Teen Parenting Program helps pregnant and high school-age mothers stay in school while their children are cared for on campus.

The program is located at Cupertino High School, but serves all students in the district. The new playground moves the Tot Center one step closer to becoming a fully licensed daycare facility.
