Sheriff's Report
The following incidents were culled from reports filed by deputies at the sheriff's Westside Substation.
Grand Theft--Jan. 24, 7 p.m., 7300 block of Rainbow Drive. An unknown suspect entered a construction site by prying a metal bracket away from a chainlink fence and bending the fence backward. The suspect took construction property that was lying in plain view behind the fence.
Residential Burglary--Jan. 24, 6 p.m., 10000 block of Stokes Avenue. Sometime during the day, an unknown suspect entered a residence and took a loaded .357 magnum handgun worth $500 and a pair of gold earrings worth $200. Nothing in the house appeared to be disturbed other than a small fire safe sitting on the master bedroom bed, which used to be in the closet. Prints were lifted from a jewelry box.
Residential Burglary--Jan. 23, 4:55 p.m., 7400 block of Fallen Leaf Lane. The victim had secured her dog in the garage, leaving the garage door partially open. The suspect entered the garage and locked the dog in its kennel. the suspect then proceeded to search two vehicles that were parked in the garage, taking a cell phone, $16 cash, and a pair of sunglasses.
Vandalism--Jan. 23, 6:10 p.m., 10000 block of Judy Avenue. The sheriff responded to a family disturbance of a man tearing up a house. The suspect's father stated that his son was drunk and had just thrown a rock through a sliding glass door. The sheriff observed the suspect to be under the influence of alcohol and booked him into jail for vandalism.
Petty Theft--Jan. 25, 2 p.m., 10000 block of N. Wolfe Road. A loss prevention officer at a local department store observed suspect conceal two polo shirts under his sweatshirt and exit the store without paying for the items. The total value of attempted theft was $89.50.
Residential Burglary--Jan 25, 8 p.m., 10000 block of Glenview Avenue. The family left their house for dinner and returned to find their home had been broken into. An unknown suspect broke a small hole in the glass of a rear kitchen window, entered the residence, and took cash and jewelry from the master bedroom.
Petty Theft--Jan. 25, 5:25 p.m., 20000 block of Lucille Avenue. An unknown suspect climbed over a wooden patio fence of the victim's ground floor apartment. The suspect took a new bicycle and a plastic bag containing snow skis and poles.
