    YMCA Reopens

    The Northwest YMCA recently opened its new Family Aquatic Center, as well as a 2,000-square-foot aerobic studio addition to the existing facility. The construction occurred through the efforts of the YMCA of Santa Clara Valley Capital Campaign, and the generosity of local business and community leaders. The Northwest YMCA is at 20803 Alves Drive. (just before Stevens Creek Boulevard).

    Portal Park Meeting

    The residents of the neighborhoods near Portal Park will hold a meeting Feb. 15 at 7:30 p.m., at the Peninsula Bible Church on 10601 N. Blaney Ave. The meeting will cover the issue of the Cupertino Union School District's proposal to convert Portal School into a middle school of 750-800 students, and its request to use a portion of Portal Park as its athletic fields.

    Energy Summit

    De Anza College will hold an "Energy Reliability Summit" on Feb. 15, from 2 to 4 p.m. in the Broadcast Media Center. The event will feature a statewide interactive videoconference, which will include a commissioner from the California Energy Commission, state Assemblyman Fred Keeley of the 27th District, and De Anza President Dr. Martha Kanter, among others. Viewers may call in questions during the last half-hour of the broadcast at 800.497.1845, 408.255.9733, or by fax at 408.864.5412. The De Anza Community and the general public may view the videoconference in the Hinson Campus Center in conference room B.
