Vote Yes on Prop. 14
Santa Clara County Cities Association supports Propositon 14, the California Reading and Literacy Improvement and Public Library Construction and Renovation Bond Act of 2000. We know good libraries make our cities better places to live.
Throughout Santa Clara County, libraries are full. Pre-schoolers crowd story hours, high school students line up for computer use and people of all ages stand or sit on the floor where there are no seats.
Many library buildings are bulging at the seams and must be improved to meet the information demands of a large and deverse clientele. Chances are that you live, shop, work, play or go to school in an area that needs more library space. In Santa Clara County, there are at least 30 projects under construction. We all benefit when library resources are universally strong.
Proposition 14 funds can be used to build new libraries and renovate inadequate ones. Proposition 14 returns money to local communities and puts money into vital needs. Not one penney of this bond money can be used by local government for administrative costs.
Legislators from both parties recognize that Propositon 14 is good for our communities. Join them and the Santa Clara County Cities Association in voting Yes on Proposition 14.
Ralph Faravelli
President, Santa Clara County Cities Association.
