Sheriff's Report
The following incidents were culled from reports filed by deputies at the sheriff's Westside Substation.
Vandalism to a Vehicle--Feb. 18, 2:05 p.m., 21000 block of Stevens Creek Boulevard. Victim parked his vehicle at a local shopping center to go to work. When she returned, she discovered her front passenger window had been broken with what appeared to be a blunt object. She did not find anything missing inside her vehicle.
Burglary (Residential)--Feb. 18, 7:45 p.m., 10000 block of S. Stelling Road. Over the past several weeks, the victim had noticed items missing from his apartment. Periodically, the missing items inexplicably returned. His only suspect for the missing items is his roommate.
Vandalism--Feb. 18, 10:30 p.m., 7500 block of Rainbow Drive. An unknown suspect smashed the rear window out of the victim's vehicle that was parked on the street in front of his home. The victim estimated that it would cost $500.
to replace the window.
Commercial Burglary--Feb. 20, 3:53 a.m., 10000 block of De Anza Boulevard. An unknown suspect(s) pried open the locked door of a local computer dealer using a crowbar, which was left behind at the scene. Several computers valued at approximately $9,200 were taken from the showroom floor of the business.
Grand Theft/Altered Check--Feb. 21, 11:45 a.m., 20000 block of Stevens Creek Boulevard. A local bank notified the victim's business that one of its checks had been altered and cashed fraudulently. The check was written to a vendor, but was cashed by a different person. The amount of the check was $21,547, and it appeared to have been taken from the United States mail.
Auto Burglary--Feb. 21, 7 a.m., 10000 block of Merriman Road. The victim parked his vehicle outside of his home and found it had been burglarized the following morning. The passenger door wing window was shattered and tools were taken from behind the seat. The truck is a work vehicle, identified by commercial advertising on its side.
Grand Theft--Feb. 21, 9:45 a.m., 20000 block of Stevens Creek Boulevard. A three-tier charcoal and teal colored Asian-style waterfall and matching bench was taken from a local restaurant. A Caucasian male asked to use the restroom while the restaurant was closed. A witness noticed the suspect and his accomplice both wore orange vests and drove away in a large orange moving truck.
Commercial Burglary--Feb. 23, 7:10 p.m., 10000 N. Wolfe Road. Two or three unknown suspects entered a local toy store during business hours and used a screwdriver to pry open a closed and locked display case. They took six Nintendo Game Cubes valued at $199.99 each. They also took three Nintendo PlayStation 2's valued at $299.99 each before fleeing from the store.
Identity Theft--Feb. 21, 1:30 p.m., 23000 block of Cricket Hill Road. Unknown suspects fraudulently obtained the victim's checking account number and made counterfeit checks to use as their own. The suspects also made fraudulent withdrawals from the victim's checking account.
